The Praktiker Group recorded sales of around € 3.015 bn from January to September 2008, putting it 0.9 per cent below last year’s result. The group experienced appreciable losses of revenue in Germany, where the sales achieved by the group were down by 7.7 per cent to € 2 076 mio. The decline amounted to 9.2 per cent like-for-like. By contrast, international sales reached a new record level of € 938.7 mio, or 18.3 per cent above the previous year (+2.4 per cent like-for-like). The third quarter saw domestic revenue decline by 11.0 per cent (-10.9 per cent like-for-like) to € 656.9 mio. An increase of 20.9 per cent (+2.9 per cent like-for-like) to € 360.4 mio was generated abroad. The company was able to improve EBITA for the first nine months by 21.2 per cent on the previous year for a total of € 109.5 mio. A similar leap in performance (+22.1 per cent) was recorded in the third quarter as well.
