The garden market in Germany grew by around 2 per cent to € 14.6 bn (at retail prices) in 2007, according to the latest garden survey from BBE Retail Experts. House-plants take the greatest share of the total volume at more than 30 per cent. The live plant segment overall comes to a share of 55 per cent. The garden centres and garden sections of DIY stores, which claim a market share of around 28 per cent, represent the main sales channel. BBE expects growth of 1.9 per cent for 2008, and a volume of € 15.7 bn by the year 2013.
