The French DIY retailer Bricorama achieved a sales increase of 1.1 per cent for a total of € 177.2 mio in the second quarter of 2008. The group reports sales of € 328.1 mio for the first six months of 2008, which amounts to a decrease of 1.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. Following one new opening and the acquisition of a franchisee, sales in France came to € 115.4 mio (+0.1 per cent) in the second quarter. In Belgium and the Netherlands, where the group is an Intergamma franchisee, sales increased by 3.6 per cent to € 58.6 mio. The group opened two stores in the Netherlands during April. Sales in Spain went down by 9 per cent to € 3.1 mio, despite the opening of a fourth store at the end of the quarter.
