Slump in building activity

Figures from the French ministry of the environment reveal that building activity in France between April and June 2008 was 28.2 per cent down on the same period last year. A start was made on the construction of only 79 220 homes during this period. It is to be expected that the downward trend will continue over the next few months, since the number of building applications made between April and June was also down by 15.3 per cent to 115 880.
