Praktiker announces jump in profit

The Praktiker Group has announced a jump in profit for the first six months. The trading result (EBITA) rose by 20.5 per cent to € 59.2 mio over the same period last year, although group sales went down by close to 0.4 per cent to € 1.9972 bn. The sales contribution made by the German stores was six per cent down at € 1.4189 bn (-8.4 per cent like-for-like). The group’s international business produced an increase of 16.7 per cent to € 578.3 mio (2.1 per cent like-for-like). Sales in Germany went down by 5.5 per cent to € 792.5 mio in the first quarter (4.4 per cent like-for-like). An increase of 17.6 per cent to € 339.7 mio was achieved abroad (2.8 per cent like-for-like).
