Sales and profit up

Net sales of Hornbach Holding AG rose in the first quarter of the company’s business year (March 1 to May 31 2008) by 6.1 per cent to € 777.7 mio. Sales in the biggest operational sub-group, Hornbach Baumarkt AG, rose by 6.2 per cent to € 739.2 mio. Like-for-like sales throughout the group saw an improvement of 1.5 per cent. They were 0.6 per cent up in Germany and 2.9 per cent higher in the rest of Europe. The holding company’s trading result (EBIT) achieved growth of 72.3 per cent to € 66.9 mio, while Baumarkt AG’s EBIT increased by 49.4 per cent to € 48.4 mio.
