The US DIY store chain reports a fall in sales and earnings

The US DIY store chain Lowe’s ended the first quarter of 2008 with a decline in sales of 1.3 per cent to $ 12 bn (€ 7.74 bn). Comparable-store sales fell by 8.4 per cent, while net profits dropped 17.9 per cent compared with the same period last year to $ 607 mio (€ 391 mio). During the quarter Lowe’s increased its total number of DIY stores by 20 to 1 554.
