Close to last year’s level

The building segment of Baywa recorded sales of € 295 mio in the first quarter, or 1.5 per cent down on the same period last year. The builders’ merchant trade accounted for € 195 mio of the total, which was two per cent lower than the comparable period last year. After the very good garden business in the spring of 2007, the company sums up the weather conditions for this year as again less favourable for the DIY and garden stores. Sales came to € 100 mio, just under one per cent down on last year. The result from the building segment’s ordinary activities has declined by € 5.8 mio to -€ 23 mio.
