Double-digit growth rates were on record last year in the countries of eastern Europe

Some of the DIY markets in eastern Europe are achieving strong growth. As revealed by the European Consumer Barometer, a survey from the Dresdner-Cetelem Kreditbank, the market volume grew by 36 per cent in Czechia and by 24 per cent in Russia during 2007. The market researchers are assuming an increase of 16 per cent for Poland as well. Some western European markets also achieved double-digit rates of growth, with Belgium and Spain each recording an increase of 14 per cent.
