The UK woodcare market experienced growth of 7.1 per cent in 2007, according to a report from GfK Marketing Services UK. The market researchers reveal that, as in recent years, products for the outdoor sector have been the main engine of this growth. The sale of water-based treatment products rose by 16.8 per cent over the previous year to £ 51.9 mio (€ 76.42 mio). Decking tiles and timber experienced especially strong growth, with sales increasing by 18.9 per cent to £ 38.7 mio (€ 56.98 mio). The GfK is also forecasting further potential for growth in this sector in 2008. Garden furniture care products managed to grow by 6.2 per cent to £ 12.6 mio (€ 18.55 mio), even though the sale of garden furniture fell because of the poor summer.
