Preliminary DIY retail results from Baywa

Sales up by more than two per cent; two new openings planned for 2008

The building supplies and garden store division of Baywa AG has announced a sales increase of more than 2 per cent for the recently completed financial year to around € 255 mio. Head of division Kai Kächelein interprets the figures as the first partial success in the reorientation of these stores. “The measures that we have introduced, such as the comprehensive optimisation of available space, the adoption of category management, implementation of binding standards, a new approach to human resources development, optimisation of branch procedures, plus a new advertising concept, are beginning to take effect,” says Mr Kächelein. The new corporate design has been implemented in about 75 per cent of the stores already. Further optimising measures, together with four store enlargements and two new openings, are on the schedule for 2008.
