Record sales in Germany

Hagebau announces record sales for 2007. The cooperative organisation, which is made up of builders’ and timber merchants and DIY retailers, is estimated to have increased its centrally invoiced sales in Germany by 5.5 per cent to € 3.531 bn. Group revenue rose by 2.0 per cent to € 3.802 bn. What is more, the cooperative expects record profits for the year 2007 for the fifth time in succession. According to information from head office in Soltau, one of the reasons for the increased sales in Germany is the reorganisation of the tiling/natural stone product category in 2007, which resulted in sales growth of 4.4 per cent over 2006. The 290 Hagebaumarkt stores in Germany (previous year: 288) were more than able to hold their own in the tough DIY business. Even though sales revenue was down slightly by around one per cent, Hagebau is still positioned above the industry average.
