Trading result seriously down

The Hornbach DIY stores increased their turnover in the third quarter of the 2007/2008 business year by 1.1 per cent to € 605.7 mio. The like-for-like figure comes to -4.1 per cent. Sales abroad amounted to € 240.5 mio, which is 12 per cent more than the same period of the previous year. Hornbach Baumarkt AG reports sales up by 3.0 per cent to € 1.955 bn for the first nine months of the business year, which means the previous year’s level was reached in like-for-like terms. Sales abroad came to € 756.7 mio, or 10.9 per cent more than the previous year. The earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit) of Hornbach Baumarkt AG collapsed, sliding by 76.6 per cent to € 6.2 mio in the third quarter. Hornbach reveals a decline of 31.5 per cent to € 78.5 mio for the nine-month period.
