Lowe’s launched its first three DIY stores in Canada on 10 December 2007. The branches are located in the Greater Toronto area – in South Brampton, Brantford and Hamilton. This is the first expansion abroad for the US number two home improvement retailer. Three more stores are scheduled for launching on 1 February 2008 – in East Gwillimbury, North Brampton and Toronto – and another is to follow in Maple. As the company reports, there are a further 15 stores at different stages of the planning process. The group has set a target of 100 DIY stores for its expansion in Canada.
