Toom expands discount line

Toom Baumarkt is rebadging its existing Zack stores as B1 Discount DIY outlets. At present Toom operates 23 discount DIY and garden stores in Germany. The network of B1 branches is to be reinforced over the next few months through the integration of up to 20 of the total of 133 Marktkauf DIY stores recently acquired by the company. Once that has been achieved, the company reckons that it will be in a position to generate sales of approx. € 200 mio with around 1 000 employees. The range of products carried by the DIY discounter comprises 10 000 traditional DIY lines, including both brand names and own-label products.
