On 12 October 2007 the Russian home improvement chain, Metrika, opened a DIY store in Lipetsk. The outlet is 5 000 m² in size and includes an outdoor yard of 1 000 m² complete with drive-in. This is the company’s tenth store in Russia and, at the same time, it is a new store model, designed to help achieve its ambitious rate of expansion. The company has announced a total of 20 new openings for this year. Metrika’s combined retail space has now increased to 67 000 m² following the new opening in Lipetsk. Eight of the current total of ten DIY stores are in operation in St. Petersburg, and one is located in Moscow.
