Swedish furniture manufacturer to test a new concept, “Garden centre light”, from December

From December of this year, Ikea will be testing a new concept that focuses more closely on garden, balcony, patio and conservatory products. The concept will be presented in a novel annex, the approximately 2 300 m2 so-called “greenhouse”, which will feature in the Swedish furniture manufacturer’s new stores in Oldenburg and Rostock. In its press release Ikea states that it will be organising and presenting the ranges of plants, garden furniture, cut flowers, garden accessories and decorative products in new ways. The greenhouse will also include an area where shoppers can sit down and where drinks and snacks will be served. Following on from the two German stores, Ikea will test its greenhouse concept in Italy too (Turin and Trieste) in 2008.
