Lifetime Award for Otmar Hornbach

This year’s Lifetime Award is to be given to Otmar Hornbach, who presided over the family company of the same name for many years. The Bundesverband Deutscher Heimwerker-, Bau- und Gartenfachmärkte e.V. (BHB) and its media partner Dähne Verlag introduced this award in 2006 for persons who have rendered outstanding service to the DIY industry. As one of the “pioneers” of the DIY industry in Germany, Otmar Hornbach helped to make the basic concept of DIY and the possibilities it offered accessible to a broad section of the population. It was on this basis that the jury reached its decision to confer the Lifetime Award on him. The award will be presented on 21 November 2007 at the International Home Centre Congress in Berlin.
