US retail giant Sears recorded sales of US $ 11.702 bn (€ 8.66 bn) in the first quarter of 2007, which amounts to a decline of 2.5 per cent on the same period last year. By contrast, the group was able to improve its operating profit by US $ 62 mio (€ 46 mio) to US $ 393 mio (€ 291 mio) during the period under review.
