The first store to follow the new garden centre concept developed by Zeus was launched this month. Gillet, the Hagebau member in Landau, opened the first new-style Floraland store on 19 March. This involved extending the existing Hagebaumarkt outlet plus garden centre to create a retail area of 22 600 m². The specialist garden store accounts for an area of 12 500 m². The concept has been structured as a modular system linking together six specialist stores covering the segments of horticulture, garden furniture/leisure, wood for the garden, machinery, creativity and pets, all under the one umbrella brand. A drive-in facility is the chosen solution for the segment offering wood for the garden. Although the Floraland store in Landau is linked to the Hagebaumarkt outlet there, this is a one-off solution, because the concept was actually developed for stand-alone stores.
