Kingfisher sales up

Europe's leading DIY retail group reports total sales up by 8.8 per cent in constant currency for the fourth quarter, and 7.4 per cent for the full financial year

Kingfisher achieved sales of £ 2.083 bn (€ 3.109 bn) in the fourth quarter, which amounts to growth of 8.8 per cent in constant currency on the same period of the preceding year, and 2.4 per cent like-for-like. For the full financial year to 3 February 2007, the group reports sales growth of 7.4 per cent in constant currency to £ 8.674 bn (€ 12.945 bn). Business in the United Kingdom still remained slack. Sales rose by 0.2 per cent, but a 1.8 per cent decline was recorded in like-for-like terms. Kingfisher's sales in France were 9 per cent up (2 per cent like-for-like). Sales in the rest of Europe (Poland, Italy, Spain, Ireland and Russia) increased by 25 per cent (7.4 per cent like-for-like) and the group's stores in Asia recorded growth of 42.2 per cent (10.9 per cent like-for-like).
