Expenditure on flowers and plants in Europe is showing uneven development. According to information from the AIPH (International Association of Horticultural Producers), the consumption of flowers and plants in the majority of EU accession countries and in Russia rose by 15 per cent from 2002 to 2004. Expenditure in the new EU accession countries showed a positive trend in 2005/2006 as well, as indicated by the fact that imports saw increases of 20 per cent and more.
