The Spanish DIY multiple intends to more than double its number of outlets, and the parent company plans to enter the garden business

The Spanish DIY multiple, Brico King, intends to open six to eight DIY stores each year until 2009, with the goal of achieving an overall total of 45 outlets. The new openings are to include formats in excess of 5 000 m² as well as neighbourhood stores. At the end of 2006 Brico King, which is part of the Brico Group DIY retail cooperative, had 20 stores and a combined retail area of 50 000 m² throughout the country. Over and above this, parent company Jaerod is planning to enter the garden business: its new "Garden King" trading format is due to start up in 2008.
