Based on preliminary information from members, the Brussels-based European Federation of the Parquet Industry (FEP) estimates that the volume of parquet sold in Europe in 2006 experienced growth of a further four to five per cent. According to a statement from the federation, the chances are good for a continuation of this positive trend in 2007 as well, provided that the construction industry recovers still further and that parquet manages to strengthen its position as a floor covering with a whole range of applications. It can be assumed that the overall consumption of parquet in the EU and EFTA member states amounts to approx. 110 mio m².
