Death of Peter Wirichs

Peter Wirichs, the former managing partner of Wirichs-Baumärkte of Krefeld and one of the pioneers of German DIY retailing, died on 20 January at the age of 55. He joined his father's company in 1976 and became the group's second executive director in 1984. Then in 1997 came the sale of the 60 Wirichs DIY stores to Praktiker, after which Peter Wirichs became heavily committed to the area of executive training for the coming generation.
