New chairman

Maureen Sabia has been elected to the position of non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Canadian Tire. She will take on her new responsibilities in March 2007 from Gil Bennet, who has held the job since 1996. Maureen Sabia has been a director of the Canadian Tire Corporation since 1985 and of the Canadian Tire Bank since it was established in 2003.
