New strategy abroad

Praktiker is treading new paths in its international expansion. Locations have up to the present always been rented, but in future the company also wants to accumulate property in each separate country. The first new opening of 2007 will be in Romania, in the company's own property in Galati. Praktiker has already acquired property in Greece and Hungary as well. Negotiations are currently going on in Bulgaria and Ukraine. However, Michael Arnold, executive director human resources and internationalisation of Praktiker Bau-und Heimwerkermärkte Holding, explains that the acquisition of property will not become the rule. There are no plans to have more than three locations in each country.
