Rapid pace of expansion

Praktiker is continuing to expand in Romania: December 2006 alone saw the opening of four new DIY superstores in this recently acceded EU member country. The company's investment in the four outlets comes to approx. € 30 mio overall. By the end of the year Praktiker intends to have 16 stores in operation in Romania. The four new locations are Braila, Satu Mare, Baia Mare and the capital Bucharest, where there are two other Praktiker stores already. The new stores are between about 6 200 and 6 900 m² in size and offer around 40 000 articles. Praktiker expects to have a presence in every city with a population in excess of 120 000 by the end of 2008.
