Sights set on new markets

Baumax intends to open the first three of the group's planned branches in Romania this autumn. A total of 15 new stores are to be built next year, and entry into the market in Bulgaria is scheduled for 2008. Then in 2009 Baumax wants to expand into Turkey with the group's first few branches there. Furthermore, the successor states to ex-Yugoslavia are being surveyed as potential markets of the future. By 2010 Baumax intends to have more than 180 stores in operation in at least eight countries and achieve gross sales of € 2 bn, two-thirds of this total abroad.
