Double-digit growth for Home Depot

Total sales rose by 17 per cent in the second quarter, but the DIY stores performed poorly

Home Depot recorded total sales of US $ 26.03 bn (€ 20.36 bn) in the second quarter, which is 16.7 per cent more than in the equivalent period last year. The DIY stores increased their sales by 5.1 per cent to US $ 22.60 bn (€ 17.67 bn), though they reported sales down by 0.2 per cent in like-for-like terms. Operating profit increased by 11.8 per cent to US $ 3.18 bn (€ 2.49 bn), and net profit grew by 5.3 per cent to US $ 1.86 bn (€ 1.45 bn). The company had a total of 2 079 outlets at the end of the second quarter following 30 new DIY store openings.
Home Depot reports total sales of US $ 47.49 bn (€ 37.14 bn), or 15.0 per cent more than in the same period last year. It was able to increase operating profit by 15.7 per cent to US $ 5.60 bn (€ 4.38 bn), and net profit rose by 11 per cent to US $ 3.35 bn (€ 2.62 bn). The Supply Division submitted strong growth figures, reporting sales up by 280.5 per cent to US $ 5.62 bn (€ 4.40 bn) for the first six months.
