The French DIY recorded growth of 4.4 per cent to a total of € 19.15 bn, according to an announcement from the French DIY retailers' association FMB (Fédération des Magasins de Bricolage). The DIY stores accounted for a 66.8 per cent share of the total, and builders' merchants for 21.6 per cent. By comparison with 2004, the number of stores went up by four per cent to 3 178, and retail area experienced an increase of 350 000 m² to over 7 mio m².
