Increase in sales and profit

In the first quarter Canadian Tire Retail (CTR) was able to report sales up by 4.7 per cent to Can $ 1.205 bn (€ 842.8 mio). Like-for-like growth came to 2.7 per cent over the corresponding period last year. Sales growth was above all recorded in the categories of tools, decoration, kitchens and household appliances. CTR was able to increase pre-tax profit by 54.1 per cent to Can $ 38.5 mio (€ 26.9 mio). The company had 464 stores in operation at the end of the quarter following two new openings.
