The number of shopping centres is rising in the countries of eastern Europe. The German Institut für Gewerbezentren (IfG), a commercial consulting institute, has looked at developments in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia for its current survey. Already identifiable in these countries at the end of 2005 were nearly 500 shopping centres with a minimum trading space of 5 000 m². According to the Institute, it is no exaggeration to speak of a genuine shopping centre boom in these countries over the last few years.
