Customer loyalty is becoming an increasingly important marketing instrument for Austrian retailers, according to a current survey from Markant Market Research. In the meantime, nearly 80 per cent of Austrians have access to at least one customer loyalty programme, which amounts to a an increase of about 6 per cent on last year's result. The traditional customer card is still the most popular customer loyalty instrument. Such a card can be found in the possession of 72 per cent of Austrians. Among the most popular customer cards are those of the DIY retailers, Obi and Baumax. Each of them is named by seven per cent of the owners of Austrian customer cards as the best, with men in the majority here.
