Sales in the pet market rose again in 2005 after a slight decline in the previous year

Sales in the pet market grew last year by 2.3 per cent to € 3.08 bn. That means the German pet market for the first time exceeded the € 3 bn mark. This information comes from the IVH (association of manufacturers of pet supplies). It followed a slight decline in the previous year.
While the pet products market succeeded in recording a sales increase of 4.1 per cent to € 791 mio in 2005, the market for pet food grew by 1.6 per cent to € 2.289 bn. The supermarket retailers had a 67 per cent share of the food market. Where requisites were concerned, however, the specialist retailers were well ahead with an 86 per cent share.
