Home Depot has announced sales growth of 11.5 per cent for the fiscal year 2005; the figure was 15.9 per cent for the fourth quarter
Home Depot announced sales growth of 11.5 per cent to US $ 81.511 bn (€ 68.639 bn) for the fiscal year 2005. Comparable store sales grew by 3.8 per cent over the previous year, 2004. Net earnings increased by 16.7 per cent to US $ 5.838 bn (€ 4.916 bn). The average sales transaction saw growth of 5.6 per cent to US $ 57.20 (€ 48.16) in 2005. Listed among the reasons behind Home Depot's success are improvements to store technology, e.g. the installation of self-checkouts in a current total of 1 272 stores, and expansion of business in the trade sector.
Following 179 new openings, including five store relocations, Home Depot had a total of 2 042 DIY stores in operation in the USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico at the end of 2005. Canada saw the opening of 20 new stores, and Mexico had 10. What is more, Home Depot also has 34 Expo Design Centers, 11 THD Landscape Supply outlets, 8 Contractors' Warehouses, 3 THD Supply stores and 2 THD Floor Stores.
