Canadian Tire reveals growth

Retail sales increased by 5.1 per cent in the 2005 financial year

Canadian Tire succeeded in increasing retail sales in 2005 over the previous year by 5.1 per cent to CDN $ 6.855 bn (€ 4.984 bn), or 3.0 per cent in comparable store terms. Pre-tax earnings amount to CDN $ 290.2 mio (€ 211 mio), which indicates an increase of 6.8 per cent. At the end of the year Canadian Tire had a total of 462 stores. Following 17 new openings and 11 retrofittings, the number of Concept 20/20 stores went up to 53. The group's combined floorspace amounted to 1.374 m². Canadian Tire announced retail sales growth of 7.1 per cent to CDN $ 2.065 bn (€ 1.502 bn) in the fourth quarter, and same-store growth of 5.1 per cent.
