The number of new shopping centre projects is diminishing from year to year in Austria

The expansion of shopping centres in Austria is slowly slackening off, according to the conclusion reached in an analysis carried out by Regio-Plan Consulting. As the market research and consulting firm reports, there are currently about 220 shopping centres or zones in Austria with a combined retail area of 2.0 mio m². Eleven of them cover an area in excess of 40 000 m². Among the tenants here are retailers such as Bauhaus, Baumax, Bellaflora, Dehner, Hornbach and Obi. The country is absolutely top of the league in Europe in terms of density (shopping centre retail area per inhabitant).
