In 2006 Egger, the internationally active group of companies with headquarters at St Johann in Tyrol, Austria, will start to build an integrated factory for timber products in the north-east of Romania. In the first stage of development rough and coated particle boards will be produced there and the wood impregnating plant will be set up. In the second phase there are plans for fibreboard production (MDF/HDF), with the manufacture of laminate flooring to follow downstream. Egger has invested € 210 mio overall in the first stage of development. The company is working in close cooperation with the local owners of woodland and sawmills in the supply of raw materials.
