Praktiker presents sales figures for 2005; strong fourth quarter

Preliminary figures show that the Praktiker group of companies increased sales in the completed 2005 financial year by 3.4 per cent to € 3.03 bn (1.5 per cent like-for-like). The company achieved same-store sales growth of 0.7 per cent in Germany. Expansion abroad led to a sales increase of 12.3 per cent (+3.9 per cent like-for-like). The international share rose over the course of the year from 23.4 to 25.4 per cent.
The Praktiker group announced a 6.8 per cent sales increase to € 717 mio (4.9 per cent like-for-like) for the fourth quarter, with € 214 mio (+15.0 per cent, +8.0 per cent like-for-like) of the total realised abroad. The increase at home came to 3.7 per cent like-for-like. On 31 December 2005 Praktiker had 340 outlets, 275 at home and 65 abroad.
