Members from all over the world in future

From the start of 2006 the Dutch flower auction cooperative, Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer, is also offering membership to producers who are based outside the European Union. According to information from the cooperative, one-third of the total volume of flowers at Aalsmeer is already sourced from suppliers outside the EU. What is more, this proportion is expected to increase to approx. 40 per cent in the next few years. At a members' meeting in December it was also decided to cut the auction rates.
