Obi has opened its third DIY and home improvement store in Russia. The store is in Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, approximately 820 km east of Moscow. It has an overall retail area of 12 000 m2, which includes a 4 000 m2 garden centre. The range focuses chiefly on the building, refurbishment and repair segments, along with electrical equipment and decorating requisites. The new store is reportedly co-located with an Ikea and a Russian hypermarket in a new 100 000 m2 shopping centre. Obi has already announced the opening of a further store south-east of Moscow in mid-December.
