Balkan expansion of Xella Baustoffe Alpe Adria

Claus Steiner, managing director of Xella Porenbeton Österreich GmbH, has taken over management of the newly established Xella Baustoffe Alpe Adria Holding GmbH retrospective to 1 October. The headquarters of the holding company is at Loosdorf near Melk, where the Austrian production plant for Ytong aerated concrete is also to be found. In addition to the three aerated concrete plants belonging to the holding company in Austria, Slovenia and Serbia, a new plant is being established at Lipjan near Pristina in Kosovo. Under the management of Claus Steiner, from the spring of 2006 this will also produce sand-lime block that will be marketed under the Silka brand name in Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania.
