Expansion in Romania

The Praktiker group is further expanding its presence in Romania before the end of this current year: today a new outlet is being inaugurated in Craiova, to be followed in mid-December by the opening of another branch at Arad. The retail area of the new DIY stores comes to 6 200 m² each, and the combined capital spending on the two outlets amounts to around € 14 mio. The consolidation of Praktiker's dominant position in the Romanian DIY market is one component of the growth strategy that is to be further accelerated by the proceeds from the company's stockmarket flotation. Praktiker hopes to be represented in all the bigger cities in Romania by the end of 2008.
