Dimmer for domestic lighting

The German market has forfeited one quarter of its volume within the space of five years. And the prospects are not brilliant

The consumer market for domestic lighting in Germany, which shrank by one quarter between 2000 and 2004, recorded a volume of € 1.160 bn last year. Domestic production also went down by the same amount during this period, reaching a volume of € 512 mio (at manufacturers' prices) in 2004. These figures are presented by the BBE management consultancy in its study, "Domestic lighting – from sunny boy to problem child". The import quota meanwhile comes to 65 per cent. Five years ago that figure was still 54 per cent. The market researchers don't expect any market growth for the next few years.
