Internationalism on the rise

This year's Glee, along with the parallel Petindex event, attracted 17 per cent more visitors from abroad

Glee, the international garden trade fair, and Petindex, the pet exhibition held at the same time in Birmingham from 18 to 20 September, together attracted 25 124 visitors, or 1.5 per cent more than the previous year. Even though the number of British trade visitors was slightly down (-0.3 per cent), there was tremendous interest from abroad. In fact, 17.4 per cent more foreign visitors registered during the three days of the fair. This means that the proportion of international visitors came to 11.8 per cent this year, compared to 10.2 per cent last time. The number of exhibitors participating at the trade fair duo totalled 1 689, with almost 300 of these suppliers belonging to the Petindex contingent.
