The DIY store operator reaffirms its total concentration on Germany

Max Bahr improved its profit on sales by 0.2 percentage points to 4.2 per cent in the 2004/2005 financial year (to 28 February 2005). The company reports that profit for the year overall increased by 6.5 per cent to € 34.5 mio. The group's sales – the DIY stores are operated by Max Bahr Holzhandlung, added to which is the Max Bahr Holzhandlung real estate company – are reported to have increased by just under 0.3 per cent to € 816.4 mio.
As management spokesman Werner Carl confirms, the company is not planning any expansion abroad. "A healthy growth strategy that concentrates totally on Germany is right for Max Bahr and will be upheld in future as well," he said. The total number of stores has gone up from 78 to 80, and the retail space has risen to 498 992 m².
