The Baywa group has announced sales growth for the first half-year; the building segment remains far behind last year's level

In the first half-year the Baywa group recorded sales of € 3.1 bn, or 5.2 per cent more than in the same period last year. The result from ordinary activities, which came to € 28.3 mio, is € 3.3 mio below the same half-year in 2004.
Sales in the building segment went down by 4.9 per cent to € 721.6 mio in a half-yearly comparison. According to a statement from Baywa, the sales achieved by the building and garden store segment throughout the group was fluctuating just above the previous year's level after six months. Whereas a slight decline is reported in Germany, sales increased in Austria through a widening of the scope of the consolidated group. The half-year result in the building segment amounts to minus € 2.4 mio; the figure for the same period last year was € 0.4 mio. The company says that repercussions from the weather-induced delay to the start of the building season are still being felt here.
