Hornbach announces expansionary plans

Hornbach is planning to open 35 new large-format DIY and garden stores over the next five years. The announcement to this effect was made by Albrecht Hornbach, chairman of Hornbach Holding AG, at the press briefing on annual results. It is expected that the figure of 150 stores will be exceeded in the year 2010. At present the company operates 119 branches in eight European countries. Furthermore, "There definitely still are attractive locations for new openings in Germany as well," according to Hornbach. Nevertheless, it is hoped that the international share of sales will continue to grow to 40 per cent.
