The first store will be opened in Toronto in 2007

Lowe's, the number two in the USA after Home Depot, is going to copy its rival by expanding into the Canadian market. The plan is to open the first store in Toronto in 2007, with the expectation of having a total of between six and ten stores in the Greater Toronto area by the end of 2007. The Canadian operation will be run by Doug Robinson, who will be recruiting his team for the planned expansion over the next few months. As a long-term target, Lowe's is aiming for 100 stores in Canada.
